
James Gravely‘s practice focuses on general business counseling and mergers and acquisitions.
He represents private companies, and founder-led businesses in a range of strategic transactions including buy and sell-side M&A, minority investments, and succession planning. In addition to transactional work, James advises clients on entity formation and structuring, contract negotiation, and corporate governance.
James’s approach is grounded in practical business judgment and open communication. He works closely with clients and their advisors from the diligence process through closing, focusing on efficient execution, thoughtful risk allocation, and solutions that align with each client’s long-term objectives.
James graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he served as Vice President of the Black Law Students Association. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from The Ohio State University. Before law school, he worked in the Ohio state legislature, putting his political science training to work and gaining first-hand experience navigating complex stakeholder environments and policy considerations.
