John Gierl’s corporate practice has a broad scope, including corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, financing and private securities transactions. In addition to his corporate transactional practice in those areas, John has been involved in a variety of franchisor and franchisee organizations. He also chairs Katz Teller’s finance and opinion committees.
Mark Jahnke’s reputation has been built on and staked to the special skill he brings to advising clients on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other major corporate transactions. Several times Mark has represented one party in a deal only to be hired later by the other party in connection with a separate transaction. In addition to handling a variety of matters relating to business organizations, including formation, organizational structure, owner/shareholder relationships, business succession and related issues, and representation of company C-level executives, Mark has represented a number of clients in significant acquisition, recapitalization and disposition transactions.
Jim McCarthy’s commercial litigation practice is diverse, but several areas of special concentration have emerged, including patent, trademark, copyright, intellectual property, business torts, unfair competition, eminent domain, tax valuation, employment, wrongful termination, wage and hour, contract and civil rights. Jim is also active in Katz Teller’s administrative, finance, marketing and Meritas committees.
Bob Pitcairn’s deft touch with complex litigation, in areas as far-ranging as antitrust, employment law, ERISA, patent, probate, securities and tax, and his poise and polish under pressure in commercial contract and business disputes, have led to local and national recognition as a top “bet-the-company” litigator. In addition to Bob’s active litigation practice, he served as the chair of Katz Teller’s management committee from 2000 to 2012. Bob is currently the head of the firm’s litigation practice group and a member of its marketing, professional responsibility and risk management committees.
